The Lake District ...and Yellow Yo-Yo Flowers

The third day of our UK trip brought us to the lovely Lake District.  We began our journey at the historical Haverthwaite Steam Train Station.  We joined a train and chugged through the English countryside past sheep, quaint old villages and mountain slopes.

After stepping off the train, we boarded  the ferry ship, "Teal" for a ride across Lake Windermere. Here we viewed many sailing vessels and gorgeous homes along the edge of the lake.

By the end of the day we had traversed the border into Scotland.  Lots of pics form Glasgow and Edinburgh next time!

Now onto the crafting!

Recently  I purchased this white shirt to match a pair of shorts my daughter previously owned.

I love how the green buttons on the shirt went perfectly with the green colour of the shorts.  However, my daughter pointed out the fact that her shorts had little daisies on them - each blossom white with a yellow centre.  Knowing her mommy is pretty crafty she made the request that I add some yellow to her white shirt so it matched her favourite shorts even better!

So she and I dug through my cotton fabrics and she chose a lovely yellow and white gingham that I turned into a trio of yo-yo flowers. (If you are unsure of how to make one of these delighful little blossoms you can find an excellent tutorial here.)

Of course, our little yellow flowers needed some pretty centres so out came the jars of buttons.

After much  picking and choosing, trying and changing......

......we decided on these.  On they went with a needle and thread. Little lady couldn't be more excited about her perfectly coordinated top and shorts set.

Thanks for popping by. I'd love to hear from you.  Please leave a comment and become a follower!
